Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has been thrown into mourning following the death of Professor Kennie Enojo Enojo, a prominent scholar of Political Economy and the Director of the institution’s Centre for Pre-Degree and Diploma Studies.
Professor Enojo passed away in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026, after a prolonged illness, according to an official statement issued by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Uredo Omale.
Vice-Chancellor Pays Tribute
Reacting to the news, the Vice-Chancellor of PAAU, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, described the late academic’s passing as a monumental and deeply painful loss to the university community.
Usman commended Professor Enojo’s long-standing dedication to higher education, noting that his contributions to research, teaching, and administrative leadership left a lasting mark on the institution.
“Professor Enojo was a distinguished scholar, committed administrator, and dedicated lecturer whose years of service were defined by excellence and an unwavering commitment to institutional growth,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
Fondly referred to within academic circles as “The State,” Professor Enojo held several key administrative and scholarly roles throughout his career at the university, earning a reputation as a mentor to both staff and students.
Over Two Decades of Academic Service
Professor Enojo’s journey at Prince Abubakar Audu University spanned over two decades. He joined the institution as a Graduate Assistant on November 1, 2002, steadily rising through the academic ranks over the years.
Recognizing his academic achievements and contributions to political science research, the University’s Governing Council elevated him to the rank of full Professor on October 1, 2023.

The Vice-Chancellor extended condolences to the late professor’s family, as well as colleagues across the Department of Political Science, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Centre for Pre-Degree and Diploma Studies.
“We pray for divine strength and comfort for his family during this difficult time, and for the peaceful repose of his soul,” Usman added.
Funeral arrangements and official memorial details are expected to be announced by the family and university management in due course.
