Governor Ademola Adeleke has won the 2026 Osun State governorship election, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, by 66,252 votes.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to secure a second term as governor.
Oyebamiji, his closest challenger and the APC candidate, scored 444,815 votes.
The result was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the collation of results from the 30 local government areas of Osun State.
According to the figures announced by the electoral commission, 985,079 votes were recorded as valid, while 20,721 votes were rejected.
Adeleke’s winning margin over Oyebamiji was 66,252 votes.
Adeleke Secures Second Term
The victory means Adeleke will continue as governor of Osun State for another four years.
His latest victory comes four years after he defeated the then-incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, in the 2022 governorship election.
The 2026 contest had been closely watched, with Adeleke seeking re-election against Oyebamiji and candidates of other political parties.
The campaign period featured intense political activity across the state, with the major candidates taking their messages to voters ahead of Saturday’s poll.
INEC Announces Final Result
The electoral commission declared Adeleke the winner after the completion of the collation process covering all 30 local government areas.
The final figures were:
Accord Party – Ademola Adeleke: 511,067 votes
APC – Bola Oyebamiji: 444,815 votes
Valid votes: 985,079
Rejected votes: 20,721
Adeleke’s victory gives him a fresh mandate to lead Osun State for another four-year term.
The election also recorded reports of security concerns and isolated incidents in some parts of the state during voting and the collation process.
With INEC’s declaration of the result, attention will now shift to the next phase of Adeleke’s administration as he prepares to continue in office for a second term.
