Omo-Agege Oborevwori Threat

Reactions Erupt As Omo-Agege Names Oborevwori Over Alleged Threat To Life, Family

Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has drawn mixed reactions after raising the alarm over alleged threats to his life and that of his family.

Fresh News.ng reports that Omo-Agege made the claim in a statement posted on his original Facebook page on Thursday, as he began his campaign activities in Delta Central Senatorial District.

According to the former senator, the threats were becoming increasingly credible and were allegedly coming from the Delta State Government House in Asaba.

Omo-Agege said the public, security agencies, civil society groups, the media and the international community should take note of the situation.

He further said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori should be held responsible and accountable if anything happens to him or any member of his family.

The statement quickly got people talking online. While some commenters urged Omo-Agege to take his security seriously, others questioned the allegation and suggested it could have political undertones.

Victor Ekasay advised him to step up his security arrangements, writing, “Oga no need to complain, na to prepare well for them, arrange make men mount with you always, gallant youths and men with some police force men anywhere you go or dey, make sure not less 20 gallant youths with high voltage mount with you, case close 😎🍾”

Geetee Otobo also told Omo-Agege not to be shaken by the development, saying, “The political movement entails a lot of warnings and threats… so sir you are one of the most powerful politicians in delta state… And even in my town Orogun… u nor need to shake at all… just read the lyrics of the song n sing along like karaoke 🎤”

But not everyone was convinced by the former senator’s account.

Yakub Abdullateef dismissed the claim, writing, “Mumu talk If you like arrange people to attack you and pin it on the governor.”

Ughelli Blogg also questioned the reason behind the statement, asking, “Is this merely an attempt to solicit sympathy votes, or what is the intention?”

Aghogho Amos took a different approach, simply asking, “You and sheriff dey get issues Sir?”

For Comrades Fidelis Ighogbota, the bigger concern was the growing tension around political contests. He wrote, “Na wao! I take exceptions to politics that are laced with the ideologies of do or die. Someone must win in every contest just as someone must fail. Make una play brotherly politics abeg o”

Other commenters expressed support for Omo-Agege and offered prayers for his safety.

Rotimi Ighodaro Ihensekhien wrote, “The lord that has led you this far shall not abandon nor forsake for your time has come. Fear not so says the lord of host!!”

Macauley Believe also wrote, “Any weapon of the enemy form against you will not prosper.”

The reactions came as Omo-Agege commenced his campaign in Delta Central, with Uvwie Local Government Area listed as the first stop before the campaign moves to the district’s other seven local government areas.
