Defence Minister Christopher Musa Breaks Silence Over Alleged Resignation

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has dismissed reports claiming he is planning to resign over the country’s lingering security challenges, describing the speculation as false and misleading.

The minister’s position was contained in a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Leah Katung-Babatunde.

The clarification followed reports circulating on social media alleging that Musa had decided to step aside from his position.

Reacting to the claims, the Defence Minister said the reports were entirely fabricated and intended to mislead the public.

He maintained that he remains fully committed to his responsibilities and is focused on implementing the country’s defence strategy.

“We wish to state unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms that these rumours are absolute falsehoods borne out of complete mischief,” the statement read.

It added that General Musa remains dedicated to his national security mandate and is committed to strengthening Nigeria’s defence efforts, insisting that progress is already being recorded.

The minister also urged Nigerians to ignore the resignation reports, describing them as fake news.

He further advised media organisations and social media users to verify information through official channels before publication to avoid spreading misinformation.
