The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for employment into various cadres within the commission.
According to a recruitment notice released by the electoral body, applications are open for positions in the Administrative, Legal, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Operations and Technical cadres.
INEC said the recruitment is open to suitably qualified Nigerians, adding that women, youths and persons living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
The commission stated that applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and National ID card, and meet the educational and professional requirements for the positions they are applying for.
Candidates are also expected to have good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, while additional qualifications vary depending on the cadre.
For the Administrative and Technical cadres, applicants are required to possess an HND or Bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines, while candidates applying for Legal positions must hold an LL.B degree, be called to the Nigerian Bar and have at least two years post-call experience.
Applicants for the ICT cadre are expected to have qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields, with professional ICT certifications considered an added advantage.
Meanwhile, those applying for the Operations cadre must possess a minimum of five credits in WAEC, GCE or SSCE, including Mathematics and English Language, as well as a valid driver’s licence.
INEC noted that interested applicants should submit their applications through its online recruitment portal by completing the application form and uploading the required credentials.
The commission warned that multiple applications would lead to automatic disqualification, while candidates found to have submitted false information or forged documents would also be disqualified.
INEC further stressed that the recruitment exercise is free and urged applicants not to pay money to anyone, insisting it does not require payment at any stage of the recruitment process.

According to the notice, the application window opened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the exercise.
