Suspected gunmen have abducted the principal of Government Secondary School, Olowa, four students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) official after invading the school during an ongoing examination in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The attack occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, while candidates were writing their NECO examination.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the armed men stormed the school premises, causing panic among students and staff before whisking away the victims to an unknown destination.
Those abducted include the school principal, four students and a NECO ad hoc official who was supervising the examination at the centre.
The incident disrupted the examination as students and teachers fled for safety during the invasion.
Following the attack, security operatives launched a coordinated search operation to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers. Personnel have since been deployed to comb nearby forests and communities while intelligence gathering continues.
According to report, one of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims.
