A wedding scheduled to hold in Nigeria on Saturday, September 19, 2026, has been cancelled just one day before the ceremony.
The groom-to-be, identified as Mr Samuel Isaac Ogbonnaya, announced the cancellation in a Facebook post on Friday, September 18.
Ogbonnaya said the wedding between him and Miss Gift Oriaku would no longer go ahead due to what he described as “irreconcilable developments” that had recently emerged.
Groom Announces Wedding Cancellation*
In the statement, Ogbonnaya informed family members, friends and other members of the public who were aware of the ceremony that the wedding had been called off.
He wrote:
“I, Mr Samuel Isaac Ogbonnaya wishes to use this medium to inform the general public that the wedding between myself, Mr Samuel Isaac Ogbonnaya and Miss Gift Oriaku slated to hold tomorrow, Saturday the 19th Day of September 2026 has been called off due to irreconcilable developments that just arose.”
The groom did not disclose what the developments were or provide further details about what led to the decision.
Ogbonnaya Apologises For The Cancellation
Ogbonnaya also apologised to those who may have been affected by the sudden cancellation.
He acknowledged that the announcement could cause inconvenience, particularly for people who may have made plans to attend the ceremony.
“I sincerely regret and apologize to everyone for any inconveniences this may have caused and I appeal that the public should pls bear with me even as I implore your continued prayers and support,” he added.
Groom Appeals For Prayers
The groom concluded his announcement by appealing to the public for prayers and support as he deals with the situation.

He did not reveal whether the cancellation was temporary or permanent, and there was no further explanation regarding the issues he referred to as “irreconcilable developments.”
The announcement means the wedding, which was expected to take place on Saturday, September 19, will no longer hold as originally planned.
