Nollywood actress and 2027 Abia State governorship hopeful Doris Ogala has found herself at the center of online debate after a campaign donor publicly requested a refund for a ₦1,000 contribution.
The interaction played out across social media platforms, creating reactions regarding political campaign funding and online public relations ahead of the 2027 Abia governorship race.
The Initial Donation and Public Declaration
The incident began when Facebook user Udensi Bernard posted a proof-of-payment receipt indicating a ₦1,000 transfer made to the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate’s campaign fund.
In his original statement accompanying the receipt, Bernard described the transaction as his official pledge of support against incumbent Governor Alex Otti.
“Tomorrow, after victory, when appointments are being shared, I don’t want to hear, ‘Who is Udensi Bernard?’ Evidence dey!” he wrote, adding that he made the pledge on behalf of himself and his family.
Demands for Refund and Candidate’s Response
However, less than 24 hours later, Bernard published a follow-up message giving Ogala a 24-hour ultimatum to return the ₦1,000 transfer, asserting that certain unspecified actions were “not a character of a Governor.”
Responding directly under the post, Ogala initially wrote: “After all my prayer for you. May God refund you in your own coin.”
The actress later addressed the situation in a separate statement, uploading the transaction receipt and acknowledging the contribution despite the controversy.
“You did well. Thank you. No amount is small. Well appreciated, even though you wanted to mock me. It’s well appreciated. God bless you,” Ogala stated.

The public exchange has drawn mixed reactions across digital platforms. While some social media users criticized the donor for using a small monetary transfer to draw attention, others questioned how political candidates handle public interactions during early campaign activities.
