Popular Nigerian content creator Emmanuel Obruste, better known as GehGeh, has finally revealed what really happened behind the wedding video that recently took social media by storm.
The internet was thrown into a frenzy after clips showed GehGeh dressed in matching burgundy traditional attire with a woman at what appeared to be a traditional wedding ceremony.
The footage quickly attracted attention, with fans and fellow influencers questioning whether the relationship commentator had actually tied the knot.
The development also caused confusion among members of his family, with his siblings reportedly expressing frustration that they were not invited to the supposed wedding.
Rather than immediately clear the air, GehGeh initially pushed back against the criticism, insisting that he had never specifically told people not to get married. However, he kept the real status of the ceremony under wraps.
The content creator has now put the speculation to rest.
Speaking during an interview on the BTC podcast, he explained that the entire event was deliberately organised to promote his brand and gauge the public’s reaction.
“We organised everything as a normal promo. And so far, apart from the fact that we purposely did it, I still wanted to get the public’s reactions,” he said in pidgin English.
According to GehGeh, the stunt was also meant to challenge what he described as a misunderstanding of the teachings associated with his GehGeh Wisdom and Knowledge University.
“Some people have a misunderstanding about my GehGeh Wisdom and Knowledge University. When you see some people, the major thing they have been saying is that GehGeh told them not to get married, but I got married.”
While the viral footage suggested that he had changed his views on marriage, GehGeh insisted that this was not the case.
He explained that he has never opposed marriage but has continued to promote polygamy as his preferred relationship philosophy.
“I did not kick against marriage. I said do not marry, and even if you must marry, go for polygamy. This is because polygamy is the path that guides a man’s heart from heartbreak,” he added.
GehGeh went further to explain why he believes polygamy can protect men from emotional manipulation.
“Because when you are with different women, it will be hard for one woman to manipulate you. And this was what our forefathers practised. That is the core principle of my university.”
The revelation has now cleared up the mystery surrounding the viral clips, confirming that GehGeh’s much-discussed wedding was not an actual marriage ceremony but a carefully planned publicity stunt.
The incident has also added another twist to GehGeh’s already controversial relationship commentary, showing just how quickly a staged moment can spark a major conversation online.
