Former Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has faced fresh hostility in South Africa as a video circulating on social media shows a group of women directing anti-immigrant remarks at her while her deportation case remains before the court.
Adetshina, who was arrested in Cape Town last month over allegations that she is in the country illegally, is currently challenging plans by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs to deport her.
The beauty queen appeared before the Cape Town Regional Court on Monday for the hearing of the matter. However, the case was adjourned until August 19, with the court expected to rule on the next stage of the proceedings.
Amid the ongoing legal battle, a video that has gone viral online captured several South African women confronting Adetshina with hostile comments.
In the footage, the women repeatedly urged her to leave South Africa, chanting that Nigeria was her home and insisting she was not welcome in their country.

The video has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users condemning the xenophobic remarks, while others expressed support for the women.
Adetshina’s deportation case has continued to attract public attention in both Nigeria and South Africa, following months of controversy surrounding her citizenship and immigration status. She has consistently maintained that she was born in South Africa, while her legal team continues to challenge the decision to invalidate her documents and deport her.
