Suspected bandits have killed a former Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of Ngaski Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed, during a midnight attack on his residence in Yauri Local Government Area.
The incident was disclosed on Friday by North-West security and crisis reporter, Bakatsine, in a post shared on his X handle.
According to the report, the attack occurred at about 2:30 a.m. in the Low Cost area of Yauri when heavily armed gunmen stormed Mohammed’s residence in what was believed to be an attempt to kidnap him.
The former local government official was said to have resisted the abduction but was shot dead by the attackers. His lifeless body was later recovered within the premises of his residence.
The gunmen also abducted his wife, Rukayyatu Abdullahi, along with another woman, Malama Maryam Sale, a teacher at Abarshi Secondary School in Yauri.
As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the two women remained unknown.
Bakatsine further revealed that security operatives responded to the attack and engaged the assailants, during which one of the suspected bandits was reportedly neutralised.
A vehicle believed to have been used by the attackers was also recovered at the scene.
Security agencies have since launched efforts to rescue the abducted victims and track down the fleeing suspects, while investigations into the attack are ongoing.
Meanwhile, funeral prayers for the late Nasiru Mohammed were scheduled to take place on Friday at 2:30 p.m., after the Jumu’ah prayers.
