Tekno Blames COVID-19 Lockdown For Decline In Modern Relationships

Nigerian singer Tekno has said he believes people’s attitude toward love and relationships has changed in recent years, with many no longer ready to give their all to romantic partners.

Speaking during an interview on Cool FM, the music star suggested that the COVID-19 lockdown played a major role in changing how people view relationships. According to him, spending long periods at home together made many couples discover things they had not noticed before.

“People got to spend time with their partners that period so maybe they got to realize they don’t really like them. I feel like since then, people have leaned into this not wanting to love as much. Marriages don’t work. You even have some of our legends’ wives getting chopped by some of the new boys.”

Tekno also said he misses a time when love was more genuine and was reflected in movies and everyday life. He argued that today’s entertainment industry focuses more on trends and popularity than authentic emotions.

“There was a time where love was a thing, for real. Even our movies revolved around love. Now our movies are just clout and influencing. It doesn’t feel organic. If you can’t appreciate the absence, the presence doesn’t really make sense.”
