Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court has regained his freedom after spending about a week in captivity, bringing relief to his family, colleagues and well-wishers.
A member of the judge’s family confirmed his release on Monday, saying he returned home safely earlier in the day.
According to the family source, the past week had been a difficult period, but they are grateful that the judge was reunited with his loved ones without further incident.
“We are filled with joy and gratitude to God for bringing him back safely. It has been a difficult one week, but today our family is celebrating his return,” the family member said.
Family Expresses Appreciation
The family thanked the Kebbi State Judiciary, security agencies, friends and members of the public for their support throughout the period of uncertainty.
They also acknowledged the prayers, messages of encouragement and expressions of solidarity they received from Nigerians, describing them as a source of strength and hope during the ordeal.
Release Brings Relief
Justice Bunza’s abduction had generated concern within the legal community and among residents of Kebbi State, with many calling for his safe return.
His release has been welcomed by colleagues in the judiciary and others who closely followed developments surrounding the incident.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not disclosed the circumstances surrounding his release, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the abduction.
