A female referee was forced to leave the pitch after suffering a concussion during a pre-season friendly between French side Metz and Dutch club Fortuna Sittard.
The incident occurred in the 40th minute after tensions boiled over between players following a shirt-pulling incident.
According to reports, two opposing players confronted each other before teammates from both sides rushed in, sparking a brief melee on the field.
Referee Mathilde Demoncay attempted to intervene and restore order but was accidentally knocked to the ground during the confrontation. She fell heavily and appeared to be in pain as she clutched her arm.
Medical personnel attended to the official before she was helped off the pitch.
According to The Telegraph, Demoncay was later diagnosed with a concussion.

The match resumed after another official took over refereeing duties.
Although Demoncay returned as an assistant referee for the remainder of the first half, she was unable to continue after the interval due to the concussion.
Metz eventually defeated Fortuna Sittard 3-1 in the friendly encounter.
