A viral TikTok video has caused a stir online, showing a group of women performing a traditional DNA verification ritual on a newborn.
The ritual is presented as a family tradition and is supposed to prove the child is the mother’s husband’s biological child.
In the video, a voice explains the process. First, they put a block of ice in regular water and it freezes.
Then they pour the cold water over the baby. If the baby gets sick or sadly doesn’t make it, it means the baby is not the mother’s husband’s biological child (i.e. the mother is unfaithful). If the baby shows no reaction, it’s proof of legitimacy.
