Nigerian DJ Big N has shared the shocking experience of being robbed and shot while in South Africa.
The incident happened on Sunday January 12 and he was hospitalised with a gunshot wound on his leg.
According to DJ Big N, he started the day with his friends at a restaurant in Johannesburg.
Later in the night he decided to hit another club with another friend. Unfortunately while at a traffic light, their car was ambushed by two cars with six armed men with automatic rifles.
During the attack DJ Big N was shot in the leg while trying to escape. One of the robbers put a rifle to his head and demanded his watch, chain and other jewelry.
Despite the chaos and heavy bleeding he managed to get back to the car and his driver took him to the nearest hospital.
He said thd doctors described his survival is a miracle. The bullet just missed a major artery and bone and he wouldn’t have survived if not for divine intervention and his mother’s prayers.
Speaking on the incident DJ Big N said he lost over $114,000 worth of valuables but he said material things mean nothing compared to life itself.
He has a new found appreciation for living authentically and without stress or validation.
In his own words, “Life is fragile and material things mean nothing. God gave me another chance to live more meaningfully.”
Despite the traumatic experience, DJ Big N has no ill feelings towards South Africa. He met wonderful people and saw beautiful places during his stay and said negative experiences don’t define a whole country.
He’s also off the crutches two days after the incident and is feeling good.
Big N’s story is a lesson on being strong, grateful and what’s truly important in life.
