He described the occasion as the beginning of a movement to reshape Anambra to good governance, economic prosperity and security.
He spoke about the state’s unutilized potential and mentioned challenges like insecurity, unemployment, bad governance and economic stagnation.
The apirant said Anambra needs a change of leadership and urged Ndi Anambra to key into a shared vision that prioritizes progress and stability.
Security, according to Okonkwo, will be a major area of focus in his administration.
He promised to strengthen community policing and adopt modern security strategies to protect lives and businesses.
His economic plan is to create a business friendly environment that attracts investors, empowers entrepreneurs and generates jobs.
Education and youth empowerment is also part of his agenda. He promised to institutionalize “Nkwado Ogalanya (Igba Boi)” a program that will equip young people with vocational and entrepreneurial skills to be self sufficient.
He also outlined plans for massive infrastructure renewal, improved healthcare and agricultural modernization to boost food security and wealth.
On the question of his membership of APC, Okonkwo dismissed claims that he was a new comer to the party.
He reiterated his long time commitment, tracing his political journey back to Action Congress and later Action Congress of Nigeria both of which were part of the formation of APC.
He said zoning should not determine who leads Anambra. Rather than sectional politics, he urged the electorate to focus on competence, saying the state’s challenges requires the best candidate regardless of the region.
“This is not a campaign; it’s a movement to rescue and rebuild Anambra,” Okonkwo said, calling for collective effort.
He asked his supporters to stand with him and promised that together they can make Anambra a model of excellence and good governance.
