The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the release of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates.
The examination body made the announcement on Wednesday through a post on its official X account, informing candidates that they can now access their results online.
“UPDATE: 2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at http://waec.org and check your results now on http://waecdirect.org,” the examination body stated.
To check their results, candidates must first generate a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a serial number through the WAEC website before proceeding to the result-checking portal.
The process requires candidates to provide their examination number, the National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration, and other contact details needed to receive a One-Time Password (OTP) for verification.
This year’s examination attracted about 1.96 million candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools across Nigeria. The examination was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026.
Although many schools continued with the traditional paper-based examination, more schools adopted the computer-based testing (CBT) option compared to previous years.
Before now, WAEC had indicated that the results would be made available about 45 days after the last examination paper.
The latest release comes a few months after the council published the results of the 2026 First Series of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates.
