Several people have been feared killed, while about 30 others are reportedly missing after suspected armed herdsmen launched fresh attacks on communities in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
The latest violence comes barely hours after the attackers reportedly invaded Ochobo community, where two residents were killed.
According to reports, the gunmen initially attempted to attack Agadagba community but were repelled by local residents.
However, the attackers reportedly returned on Saturday evening and unleashed another assault on the community, opening fire on residents and causing many to flee for safety.
Several people were reportedly killed during the attack, while about 30 others have been declared missing.
Residents said the gunmen stormed the community unexpectedly, forcing many villagers to escape into nearby bushes in a desperate bid to save their lives.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties had yet to be officially confirmed, while security agencies had not issued a statement on the incident. Search efforts are expected to continue as families await news of those still unaccounted for.
